Novice Package

We are pleased to welcome you to the fifth edition of the Caroline Ouellette Girls Hockey
Celebration held from December 20 to 23, 2018.

Thank you for sharing this page with all your team members including coaches,
players and their parents.

Celebration Schedule including games and special events

Make sure you validate the time of your games and on-ice sessions for goaltenders with
Olympian Charline Labonté.

Our Novice teams also have an on-ice development sessions with Olympians Marie-Philip
Poulin, Lauriane Rougeau and Julie Chu.

Teams part of our Atom A and Pee-wee A divisions not qualifying for the semi-finals are invited
to attend an additional on-ice skills development sessions on Sunday morning with Olympians
Julie Chu and Lauriane Rougeau. We will inform the team’s manager by email on Saturday once
the teams final rankings are finalised. We will also inform you of your jersey colors for the
session. Our objective is that every team in the Celebration has a guaranteed of 3 ice sessions
during our tournament.

Special Events
The schedule of activities also includes the special events calendar, including our showcase
games between Les Canadiennes de Montréal and Équipe Québec as well as our photos and
autographs session with our Olympians. You will also find the schedule of our RBC Try Hockey
session and the Peewee AAA All-Star Game presented by Chevrolet.

During the competition, game results will be posted online

Rules and regulations
All the rules and regulations of play are in this package starting on Page 9. Make sure to review
these carefully before the tournament.

Team Registration
Teams can register with the Registrar at the ice level before each of their games to review the
game sheet and confirm your jersey color. Each team must submit the required documentation
as identified in the document below “Specific Regulations Caroline Ouellette Girls Hockey
Celebration”. Thank you for arriving at least 75 minutes before your first game.

Individual Player Registration:
Individual Players have to come to our Registrar on the second floor near rink 2’s entrance
before every game to sign the game sheet. Before their first game, individual players will receive
their jersey. Make sure to bring hockey socks matching your team’s jersey colors. Thank you for
arriving at least 75 minutes before your first game.

Competition Site: Dollard-des-Ormeaux Civic Center – Ice 1-2-3
All the Girls Hockey Celebration’s activities are held at the Dollard-des-Ormeaux Civic Center
located at 12001 Salaberry Boulevard in the DDO municipality in Montreal.

Admission
Admission is included for all players and coaches. For spectators, a weekend pass is available
at the door at the rate of $15. Daily passes are $6. We only accept cash payments at admission.
Children 12 years and under can enter for free. All of the special events, including meet and
greet with our Olympians, the on-ice sessions, Les Canadiennes de Montréal showcase game
and the Pee-Wee AAA All-Star Game are included in the admission fee.

On-Ice Goalie Sessions with Charline Labonté
These sessions are only for goaltenders. Make sure you inform your goalies of the date, location
and time of their session based on your category.

On-Ice Individual Skills Development Sessions (practices)
These sessions are for players and goalies Novice as well as Atom and Pee-wee A not
qualifying for the semi-finals.
They are lead entirely by our team of coaches made up of Les Canadiennes de Montréal
players, University and Collegial level players. Team coaches cannot be present on the ice
during these sessions. Players and goalies will wear their game jerseys and socks during
practices.
For the regular teams, thank you in advance for bringing your two different hockey jersey colours
and your team’s socks. If your team decides not to participate, please inform us at

* It is unfortunately impossible logistically for each team to have their own locker room. Please
advise your players that they will be sharing with another team.

Souvenirs items & apparel
Souvenirs from the Celebration, such as apparel, hats, tuques, mini sticks and photos will be
sold at our boutique in the lobby area. Please note that we accept both cash and cheques. An
ATM is located in the lobby area of the DDO Civic Center. Thank you for bringing a bag to leave
with your gifts.

The Caroline Ouellette Girls Hockey Celebration is a Not for Profit organization. All the proceeds
raised at the Celebration are reinvested in female hockey and coaching development programs.
We are proud to finance entirely the participation of the Québec Etoile female team that
participates in the Quebec International Peewee Tournament annually. The team excelled in
2017 by reaching the final of the tournament.

Team Photos
The team photo will be taken before your first game. We therefore ask that your players be
ready 15 minutes before the game. A volunteer will escort you to your photo session.
Individual Action Shot
Our photographers will be taking individual action shots during the Celebration. If you wish to
purchase an individual action shot, in order to help us organize our photographers’ schedule, we
recommend that you fill out this pre-order document before the start of the Celebration at:

It will be possible to place orders during the Celebration, but due to schedule constraints, we
cannot guarantee that we will able to fulfill them all.

Chevrolet Good Deeds Cup – Get Involved!
Caroline is an ambassador for the Chevrolet Good Deeds Cup. This trophy is awarded to the
Peewee team with the best season off the ice. We invite all our Peewee teams to enter the
Good Deeds Cup contest for a chance to win $100,000 for the charity of your choice as well as a
summer skate with Mitch Marner and Caroline Ouellette. You have until January 2nd to enter.

CCM Booth
CCM has been an essential partner of the Girls Hockey Celebration since its beginning The
CCM team will be present at the Celebration to showcase their products.
Demo CCM sticks will be available for players to test during their on-ice sessions. CCM prizes
will be drawn amongst the players who test the sticks. A skate scanner will help the CCM team
recommend the best possible skates for individual players. Players will also be able to find the
right stick by using the CCM stick fitter app. On display will be women’s protective (current and
NEW 2020 sample), helmets, skates, and gloves.
We invite you to fill out this hockey equipment survey for a chance to win a CCM stick of your
choice.

Pro Shop
The Stingers Sport Store will be open during the Celebration and offering skate sharpening
service as well as hockey equipment and products.

LOCKER ROOM POLICY NOVICE CATEGORY – FOR THE RESPECT AND COMFORT OF
ALL OUR PARTICIPANTS.

The new reality of half-ice hockey for the Novice category means that two teams will have to
share one locker room.
For the comfort and respect of all our participants, only the female staff and coaches will be
allowed in the locker rooms before and after the games. Male coaches will be allowed to enter 15
minutes before the game and if needed 10 minutes following the end of the game. A player can
come out of the locker room if she requires help with her equipment. We will allocate volunteers to
help dress the players as well as tying up skates.

Specific Rules – Novice Category
Preliminary Round Games and Final on Half-ice

We have established the following rules specifically for the Novice category:

Team Registration
Before your first game, each team have to present themselves to the Caroline Ouellette Girls Hockey
Celebration registrar to verify your game sheet and confirm the jersey colour of your team for the
game.

In conformity with article 9.10.10 of the administrative rules of Hockey Quebec, a verification binder is
required and have to contain the following elements:
-Registration form of the team with signatures from the players and the appropriate accreditation
approved by a regional registrar
– Score Sheets (Previous 5 games)

*The teams formed by the individual registration for the Celebration are not required
to abide by these rules. Those players have to come to the registrar by the ice
surfaces entrance(2nd floor) before every game they play.

Colour of the jersey: The home team will wear the dark coloured jersey and the visiting team the light
colour jersey.
Exception: When playing against the mini-canadiennes, mini-stars, mini-bulldogs or
mini-stingers. You will have to wear a different colour jersey than these teams. (They
only have 1 colour jersey)

Specific rules concerning the time of play
– 5 on 5 playing format
– 3-minute warm-ups
– 2 periods of 23 minutes running time
– Player changes only allowed at each 1:30 interval at the sound signal
– No change will be permitted at other times including a goal
– Face-off situations:
o Line change—Where the puck is located when the sound signal goes off
o Goal—at the center of the half-ice
o When the goaltender makes a save and freezes the puck—to the right or the left of the
goaltender
– If we have a tied game after two periods, and after the penalty shots for infractions during the
game have been taken (see below) the coach from each team will designate 3 players that will
participate in the shootout. Every player of the team has to participate in the shootout before
using a player for a second time.

Specific rules concerning penalties

Penalties: The payer on whom the infraction was made will obtain a penalty shot at the end of the
period.

Players’ Benches
Teams will have to share the same bench and will have their own access to the ice.

Final
We will have two finals in this category. A final for each division.

Tie-breakers (ref.: article 9.8 administrative rules)

If there is a tie in the rankings between multiple teams, every team in this situation are subject to the
following points, as long as the first team in between them has not yet been determined.

As soon as the rankings of the first team is determined, the process will restart at the first stage (A) to
rank the other teams in draw situations.

The ranking will be determined with these following criteria’s:
A. The Highest amount of victories in regular time
B. The least amount of losses
C. The result of the game in between the two teams (victory)
D. The best goal differential: total goals for minus total goals against for all games played
E. By random draw

Goal differential in a game and scoring display

We will stop displaying the score if there is gap of 10 goals or more in between two teams. For the
purposes of statistics and the ranking of the teams that will move on to the finals, we will keep track of
the final score.

Teams will be divided into two separate pools named: Pool CCM and Pool Hockey Quebec.
